Liberty of London (now shortened to Liberty London is like an old friend who has been around since childhood and continues to put a smile on my face. The storied London-based emporium is a crosswalk of quirky and chic home and fashion. Its own label is known for sweet, charming florals and paisleys in spirited colors that are both provincial and sophisticated at the same time. The patterns set the wheels of my design mind in motion as I see the blooming motifs splashing all over product that’s traditional with a youthful kick that never goes out of style.
This brand, beloved by design enthusiasts, is making its way to American interiors in a textile collection through Fabricut. I’ll unveil that new collection and my interview with Genevieve Bennett, Liberty London’s current head of design for interiors, in Friday’s post. But now, I want you to experience the fanciful and darling patterns that lure me to this London department store each time I am back in the enchanting city that I used to call home.
The best part of Liberty London is that it spans the spectrum of fashion and design. Check out a few ways you can have a piece of the delightful brand, as well as some of my favorite items made from Liberty prints.
You can wear it. Liberty London’s own garments incorporate delicate details and frills: textural ruffles, straps and ties in fabrics that contrast the body of the piece, and poufy sleeves that charm with femininity. The department store also offers labels from some of my other favorite brands. La Double J, for instance, makes an appearance and complements the aesthetic with its tiered skirts and flirty silhouettes.
You can live with it. It’s easy to start small. If a chair needs a pop of color from a vibrant pillow, one from Liberty is an excellent choice. Jewel tones saturate comfortable pillows with oversize botanicals, peacocks with personality, and new iterations of the tree of life. If a more permanent look is the goal, the vast selection of wallpapers and fabrics make a space to radiate with floor-to-ceiling joy.
You can sleep with it. Say good night with style. Liberty’s patterns invigorate the bed’s story with delicate florals and paisleys that are sure to sweeten dreams.
You can imagine it and make whatever you dream up. Liberty London supports shoppers with a vision. The store has a whole floor of fabrics by the yard. Bolt after bolt of prints line the walls—perfect for anyone wanting to customize the softest cottons into their own creations. We recently had fabric made into cocktail napkins that were trimmed in embroidery. I never neglect the opportunity to show another dose of pretty.
I encourage you to check out the Liberty London website. You can order whatever you want to your doorstep or just dream in living color. That’s what this brand is all about. Stay tuned for Friday’s interview.
Cheerio,
Amanda
